At the beginning of the course i had only very briefly used Maya 2016. Now i feel confident that i can complete a task given and create 3D assets ranging from weapons to ordinary props. I have learnt a range of tools through exploring the program as my own pace at home and at college and through watching tutorials online that i know how to use fully to create my models.
When first modelling i never understood geometry Ngons and created models with horrible topology. Now i feel i can competently create topology fit for for use. i used to have trouble with Ngons, non manifold geometry and edges with 0 length. I can now say i know how to avoid and if necessary remove or fix these out of my models and keep my topology clean.
Since the start i took interest in Automotive modelling which is regarded as highly difficult amongst 3d software users. Through practising and a lot of failing i learnt the importance of edge flow in models. i also learnt it's okay to have separate objects as there are things you cannot create when extruding from a single poly primitive. I even attempted spline cage modelling and have a basic understanding of using the cage to loft out a basic model that can have its topology redrawn via the use of quad draw.
Overall my experience with Maya has always been that of interest and fun, if i gain the skills necessary my dream job would be 3D modelling for games.
